Interview with Jacob Juarez

Jacob Juarez

How did you get involved? This one day I was walking to seminary and all of a sudden one of my buddies started singing and we all joined in, in harmony. Then after we finished our song, we all just looked at each other and we said, “Hey! We could go somewhere with this!” Landon’s dad is in Afterglow and he said he’d take us to the recording studio if we made up a few songs. So we did!
How long has your group existed? We have been a group since sophomore year in high school. Almost 4 years.
Purpose? (See mission statement on CD)
How is dress important? The way we dress is very important to us because when we sing our songs, we represent our Father in Heaven. When we dress in our suits, we are more able to feel the Spirit and allow others to feel the Spirit because our dress isn’t distracting or offending.
Why did you join? Because I like singing, the gospel and the fellas. It’s a triple threat!
How much a part of your life? Being in the group has definitely helped me grow spiritually and has helped me be a better person. It reminds me of who I am, what I represent and why I do the things I do. The gospel is my life—it’s who I am. Without it, I am not.
What is your role? I am the first tenor of the group and I’m the spiritual one and the one who plays all the instruments and the peacemaker and the good looking one……okay, really all I do is sing.
Who started it? Well Rob would probably say he and Nate because they started writing our lyrics to our first song, and Nate would probably say us four because he doesn’t want to take all the credit…so in actuality, it was really our Heavenly Father. We were all foreordained to be…well, 4ordained.
Favorite part of being in the 4ordained: Well, there are a lot of things…first of all, we have the opportunity to create the music that our Heavenly Father would want us to create; secondly, we get to bring others unto Christ by hopefully inspiring them and helping them realize how much the gospel means to us; thirdly, I get to be around my best friends and sing about what I love—the gospel.
Symbol, logos…what do they mean? Our name is a symbol—4ordained—and it symbolic of all of us being 4ordained with some purpose.
What are the benefits? Well, we’re able to sing about the gospel and we definitely receive blessings.
Who are you inspired by? Our friends and families and our Heavenly Father and our Heavenly Brother.
